School closure due to inclement weather

Description
Local weather forecasts continue to predict bitterly cold temperatures with significant wind chill factors. Rochester Community Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, due to inclement weather conditions. RCS classes are canceled. This includes Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), Early On, Pre-K, Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), Special Education Adult Transition Programs and Services (ATPS), School-Age Care (SAC), Rochester Adult Center for Education (RACE), enrichment programs and facility rentals. At this time, high school events and trips may proceed throughout the day as scheduled. Evening and weekend high school activities may also proceed as scheduled, barring any changes from host organizations. Coaches, program directors or event organizers will communicate specific guidance as information becomes available. Any parent or caregiver who believes it may be unsafe for their student to attend or travel to these activities can, and should, make the decision for them to remain home. Elementary and middle school activities remain canceled for Friday. Middle school principals will reach out to families regarding weekend competitions.
